Nathalie, a nurse at the SOS Mains centre of the Médipôle Lyon-Villeurbanne (France)
What is your function ?

I have been a nurse since 2003 and currently work at the SOS Mains centre at the Médipôle Lyon-Villeurbanne (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France). The department receives patients who need to undergo upper limb surgery: hand, shoulder or elbow, as part of outpatient care.

How long have you been working at Ramsay Santé ?

I have been working in this facility for fifteen years. Two years ago, several hospitals in Lyon were merged and taken over by Ramsay Santé. So I've been working for the group since then.

Why did you choose this job ?

I like the human side as much as the technical aspect of the nursing profession. Previously, I worked for seven years in the emergency department and particularly appreciated the care provided. In my current position, I'm lucky enough to be able to combine these two aspects because I accompany patients from A to Z: I welcome them, follow them throughout their care until they are discharged.

What do you like most about your job / your daily life ?

I take pleasure in offering patients personalised, high-quality care. Our exchanges are often positive and enriching. It must also be said that we have a very good team: among colleagues, we understand each other, we have the same vision of work and the same desire to take care of our patients. They feel it and they give it back to us!

What are your plans for the future ?

I would like to continue my training by taking a DU in hypnosis. More and more surgeons in hospitals are moving away from general anaesthesia to hypnosis. Patients are very satisfied with this because they are less likely to suffer after the operation. It also allows us to approach surgery through the prism of positive communication to help them manage their anxieties... This is something I would very much like to be a part of!

Do you have a passion ?

I love cooking, especially baking cakes!

Sport is also an important part of my life. I run, I go to the gym... When I'm not at the hospital, I exercise!
